Thomas F. Pierson - Chairman and General Counsel

Northern Arizona University, B.S. Major Finance; 1973 - Denver University, J.D. Admitted Colorado and Arizona 1973 and 1974 respectively. 1973-1977 Managed a medical equipment leasing company, helped charter one commercial and 4 thrift companies, represented both Colorado and Arizona financial institutions owned by a small conglomerate. 1977-84 owned equipment leasing company and two industrial banks in Colorado. 1984-96 practiced real estate law and litigation related to business practices. 1996-present involved in the investment banking process of taking private companies public.

Rene Hausler – Senior Business Advisor and Director

Rene brings to AOTI a wealth of international business experience. After graduating from the University of Zurich, Switzerland with a bachelor’s degree in international business and an MBA in marketing, Rene spent 35 years working in ever increasing management positions for IKEA, a $31b international powerhouse with over 300 stores across Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia and North America. These positions included: CEO IKEA Sweden, CEO IKEA Switzerland & Austria, and President and CEO IKEA USA West. Most recently, Mr. Hausler was the Franchise owner of IKEA San Diego, a store with 300 employees, which he built to over $100m in revenue – the most profitable IKEA store in the USA. Rene currently sits on the boards of a number of international companies, including; AOTI, USA, Pro2Med Inc., Braziland Inc, USA, Fluent Inc, USA, and Design and Innovation Institute, USA, as well as several other local political and sports associations in Switzerland. Mr. Hausler is also CEO, President and Director of Sportcenter Ägeri, Switzerland, Hausler & Oida Inc., USA, and also the owner of the Kapuluan Vista Resort in the Philippines.

Mike Griffiths DMS, CRT AAPWCA - CEO & President

Mike Griffiths graduated from Kingston university in the United Kingdom with a post graduates qualification in management and also holds several further engineering and clinical credentials, including that as a Certified Respiratory Therapist. Mike is a seasoned medical device industry professional who joined the AOTI team as CEO & President in 2005. He brings with him over 22 years of experience gained from a wide variety of executive positions worldwide working with both small and large companies. From 2000-2005, Mike was the co-founder and CEO of eVent Medical Ltd., a start-up venture in the critical care field, that in 2006 was sold to Kobayashi pharmaceutical company of Japan. Prior to eVent Medical, he held various senior management positions in Mallinckrodt Inc, Nellor Puritan Bennett Inc, and Hudson RCI amongst others.

Richard M. Muller - CFO

Richard M. Muller graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration. For more than 30 years, Mr. Muller has been involved in international business ventures, start-up businesses and entrepreneurial pursuits and has developed substantial financial and transactional experience relating to the re-organization, development and funding of publicly traded companies. His background includes business activities as diverse as consumer products distribution in Eastern Europe to mining and entertainment ventures in the United States and Latin America. Mr. Muller has for the past 5 years been the CFO of Advanced Oxygen Therapy, Inc

Kevin Plihal MBA, RRT – VP of Marketing & Business Development

Kevin received his graduate degree in business administration with emphasis in international finance from Webster University in St. Louis, MO and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the American Board of Respiratory Care. He brings over 20 years of both healthcare (hospital based) and management experience from small startup medical companies to multi-billion dollar healthcare organizations. Prior to joining AOTI, Kevin held senior management positions in GE Healthcare, VersaMed Medical Systems, eVent Medical, ResMed and Nellcor Puritan Bennett.
Christian Frye MD, MPH – Global Medical Director & VP of Clinical Science

Dr. Frye joined AOTI from Linde Gas Therapeutics, a division of Linde Group, which is an $18B industrial and medical gas conglomerate made up of the former Linde AG, BOC PLC and AGA SA. At Linde, Dr. Frye held the position of manager of Medical Business Development. Prior to this, Dr. Frye held various senior marketing and clinical management positions for a number of companies institutions, including; a subsidiary company of Munich Re, the world's second largest reinsurance company, the German Research Center for the Environmental Health, and the Institute of Medical Data Processing at Tübingen University. Dr. Frye completed his medical degree and practiced as a physician, surgeon and lecturer at the university hospitals in Munich, Marburg, Cologne and Essen.

Freddy Schwab - VP of Sales and Marketing, Europe

Freddy Schwab graduated from university in Germany with a Bachelors Degree in Electronics. He joined AOTI in 2003 and has spearheaded the establishment of our European distribution relationship with Linde AG. Between 2000 and 2005, Freddy was the President of European Sales and Marketing for eVent Medical Ltd. Prior to this he held various sales and engineering positions for companies as Nellor Puritan Bennett, Air Liquide, Toshiba Computing.

Moustafa El-Gohary MSc, CBEng - VP of Sales and Marketing,
Middle East, Africa and Asia

Moustafa El-Gohary graduated from the University of London in Medical Electronics & Equipment Management, a certified BioMedical Engineer, with post graduate qualification in Medical Physics and Business Administration, and a member in several regional and international professional bodies in medical devices.  Moustafa brings with him over 18 years of experience in the field of Marketing & Sales introducing a wide range of Critical Care Medical Devices to the Middle Eastern Markets. Throughout this period, Moustafa held Several Management positions for big distribution companies in the Middle East. Moustafa was the regional sales manager Datascope Patient Monitoring Division in Canada (1998-2003) and the General Manager for Middle East & Africa for VersaMed (GE Health Care Respiratory Care & Sleep division: Marc 2004-December 2008).
Liam Farrell - VP of Service and Technical education

Liam Farrell graduated from the British Aerospace technical education program in the United Kingdom where he achieved an HNC in Mechanical & Production engineering and gained experience in a broad base of manufacturing and engineering disciplines. Mr. Farrell has spent a total of 17 years in the medical devices industry working primarily in the respiratory and critical care fields.  Liam has held management positions in Nellcor Puritan Bennett, eVent Medical Ltd., Versamed and GE Healthcare, where he has been responsible for technical support, technical education and a wide range of related technical service disciplines.
Robbie Walsh MS - VP of Quality and Regulatory Affairs

Robbie has 14 years of experience in the medical device industry, all of which has been in his specialist field of quality assurance and regulatory affairs. As such he has built up a considerable wealth of knowledge and expertise on a worldwide basis in quality systems and regulatory submissions and he brings his experience in this critical area to the AOTI team. During this time Robbie has held various positions within the QA/RA field at senior management level with Puritan Bennett, Tyco Healthcare, eVent Medical Ltd and Respironics Inc. From an academic perspective Robbie has an Engineering Degree in Electronics and a Masters Degree in Reliability systems.
Gerry Coughlan – VP of Operations
Gerry joined AOTI in 2006 to head up their manufacturing operation in Ireland. He comes from eVent Medical Ltd. where he held the executive position of Manufacturing Director with responsibility for global manufacturing. With his background in electronic engineering Gerry has 18 years experience in the medical device business with industry market leaders such as Puritan Bennett, Nellcor Puritan Bennett, Mallinckrodt and eVent Medical. Gerry has also held management positions in the areas of Research & Development and International Service within the medical device industry.
